Seattle Cruise Terminal Wheelchair Pickups: Get Pier 66 and Pier 91 Right

Confirm the pier for your sailing, arrange cruise-terminal assistance separately, and give your transportation provider the wheelchair and luggage details. For the ride home, coordinate pickup around when you can actually leave the terminal.

The ship is waiting, the bags are packed, and the ride confirmation says “Seattle cruise terminal.” Before departure day, replace that broad destination with the exact pier and an agreed loading point. Seattle has two cruise terminals, and the name of your ship matters to the transportation plan.

For a wheelchair-accessible cruise transfer, connect three arrangements: the vehicle, the assistance through the terminal, and the handoff to or from the ship. Confirm each with the organization providing it.

Confirm the pier for your specific sailing

The Port of Seattle identifies these two locations:

Check the terminal against your cruise line's current sailing instructions, then include the ship name, travel date, pier, and terminal address in the ride request. Confirm the return terminal too. Avoid choosing an address from a previous cruise or relying only on the cruise line's name.

Give the operator your assigned arrival or check-in time and the cruise line's boarding deadline. Ask it to propose a pickup that allows for the journey and the assistance you need after the drive. A road travel estimate does not include getting through the terminal.

Agree on the loading point with the operator

Pier 66's official page describes a ground transportation area directly in front of the terminal entrance. Pier 91's page distinguishes its ground transportation area from a dedicated app-based rideshare lot and a cell phone waiting lot. Those descriptions help orient you, but your provider should confirm where its vehicle will meet you.

The Port's pickup guidance for shuttle companies directs operators to the appropriate terminal manager. Ask your operator to resolve any access or staging questions before travel, especially if you need a particular boarding arrangement.

Save the meeting instructions in words, including a sign, door, or designated area when the provider supplies one. Ask what to do if traffic staff redirect the vehicle. A general map pin is less useful than a location both you and the driver recognize.

Arrange terminal assistance separately

Contact the cruise line about assistance from the vehicle drop-off area through check-in and onto the ship. Explain whether you will use your own wheelchair, whether you need help moving through the terminal, and who will accompany you.

Ask where that assistance begins, how to request it on arrival, and what is available when you leave the ship after the cruise. Confirm where the ground driver's role ends so there is a workable handoff.

If considering a cruise-line motorcoach transfer, ask about the assigned vehicle and your actual mobility needs before purchasing it. The Port lists motorcoach transfers among transportation options; that listing does not confirm the accessibility of a particular reservation.

Count the bags as well as the passengers

Share your wheelchair's details, occupied dimensions, companions, and luggage count with the operator. Include extra mobility equipment or unusually large items. Our vehicle-fit guide can help you gather the information needed for review.

Decide who handles bags while the rider boards and who takes them at the terminal. Keep travel documents and items you need during the transfer accessible to you or your companion. If renting equipment for the cruise, confirm the delivery and collection points so the transportation plan accounts for the device you will actually use on each leg.

Build the return around leaving the terminal

A ship's scheduled arrival does not establish the moment you will be at the pickup point. Ask the cruise line about the departure process, assistance, and luggage collection. Then ask the transportation provider how it handles that timing: a fixed reservation, a readiness update, or another confirmed arrangement.

Agree on who contacts the driver, where the party waits, and how delays affect availability or charges. Send a readiness message only when it matches the process you agreed. Include everyone traveling and all the bags in that check.

If continuing to SEA Airport, the Port's Smooth Sailing blog guide explains the airport-to-cruise journey and the return. Confirm airline check-in and assistance arrangements separately, and use our airport handoff guide for the ground connection. For a hotel stay, review the hotel pickup guide.

Save one cruise transfer note: ship and sailing date, confirmed pier, loading instructions, wheelchair and luggage details, terminal assistance contact, and the return-pickup process. Share it with the people helping so the land portion of the trip is ready before you sail.
